But someone will say, “One person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions.” James 2:18 GNT

Almost two years ago God impressed it on my heart to start setting the dinner table with a plate for my husband. I cook most nights and my boys and I eat together. They have been a witness to the act of faith.

One Saturday night while I was gone, my oldest and his fiance cooked dinner. I asked them to feed my youngest but I would clean up when I got home. When I got home that night they had a place set at the table for my husband and I.

Faith being walked out.

The other night I asked my youngest to set the table. As he put a plate out for his dad he asked me why I don’t make his dad’s plate. I always make everybody’s plate and hand them out. I stammered around because I certainly didn’t want to say he probably wasn’t coming. I asked my boy if he wanted to make his dad’s plate. My son got up from the table and proceeded to make a plate for his dad. He set it in front of his chair as though we expected him to walk right in and eat with us.

Faith being walked out.

My kids may think I’m crazy at times. And my oldest boys believe I deserve better. But as I walk this faith out they are growing in their own faith. This is one of the reasons I stand. For my kids to have bold faith in God. For my kids to believe even before they see the miracles.

This stand isn’t just about your spouse coming home. It is also about the people around you. Do they see you walking faith out? Does your faith have works? Do you believe so boldly that those around you jump on board? If your faith is weak today ask Him to strengthen you.

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? James 2:14 NLT

Praying for you,
Brandi Roark
