IS There Hope for My Marriage to be Restored?

Hope is a very powerful thing. With hope, we are filled with strength and confidence. Without it, we experience despair and weariness. Do you believe Jesus is fighting for your marriage? Or are you trying to convince Him? When you understand how He feels about your marriage, just that alone can bring SO much hope!

HOPE IS NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GONE!

Jesus is our hope, so there is NO way it can EVER be gone! We can replace true hope with false hope when we look away from the truth and seek hope from our spouse’s words and actions. When that fails, we ‘feel’ hopeless. And we all know that feelings are not real nor trustworthy!

One of the things that make us lose hope is when we do not have security in knowing that Jesus is fighting to restore our spouse and marriage even MORE than we are. When we worry that we have to convince HIM to help us, that interferes with hope.

But when you look at Jesus, fix your eyes on Him — Who IS OUR HOPE — there is no way for HOPE not to reveal itself again. To not see it, means you are not choosing to believe in Him and Who He is! 

 A person that only finds hope in people or circumstances will be UNSTABLE. They will seek circumstances to keep them hopeful, always searching for the one thing to keep them afloat. A text, a look, an action, signs. And when that doesn’t come, if the spouse goes quiet or withdraws, they become angry, fearful, and lose confidence. They become very unstable because this kind of hope is conditional, runs dry, misleads, and controls them.

 The hope that comes from Jesus never runs dry, it doesn’t mislead or redirect away from the truth. It’s not conditional and brings peace and security instead of manipulation and control.

A person who knows JESUS as the Source of hope is securely ANCHORED and never led astray by circumstances. That is what is meant when someone says “MY HOPE IS FOUND IN HIM ALONE!”

What kind of Hope can we get from God?

We often forget or don’t realize that we are not calling God to Stand, but He called us. He chose US to partner with Him for your lost beloved. This is His Stand, His mission, His purpose.

1 Corinthians 7:14 says that through our MARRIAGE, our UNBELIEVING spouse is SANCTIFIED! That means “to purify internally by reformation of soul.” Because of MARRIAGE, God sets our spouses apart, treats them as HOLY, and sees them as HOLY, even if they are not acting that way.  This word HOLY means “I look at you differently than I look at the world.” This is GOOD! God sees your unbelieving spouse as set apart from the world.  That is how powerful marriage is!

The fact that God doesn’t want anyone to perish should give you a lot of hope,

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.2 Peter 3:9

It only takes ONE Word from God to touch your spouse, ONE ray of light from Him shining upon their darkness, ONE finger from Him upon their being. In a moment, everything can change. You must get your hope in Him. The Savior! He loved you enough to come and take you from darkness to light, He loves them enough too!

Hope is SO powerful! It truly has power that steers us one way or the other. That is why you must grasp WHO your source of hope is, where it comes from, and not place it upon a person that has no right being your source. With JESUS, the source of hope NEVER RUNS DRY!
